Pinheiro Neto Advogados has helped Swedish aerospace and defence company Saab buy a stake in its Brazilian partner, Akaer.
Akaer, an aeronautical and space engineering company, turned to Velloza & Girotto Advogados Associados in the deal, which closed on 3 May for an undisclosed amount.
Under the terms of the agreement, Saab will gain a 15 per cent stake in Akaer’s capital stock. The investment has been described by both companies as an important step towards the future design, development, and production of the Gripen NG (Next Generation) aircraft, which was submitted to the Brazilian Air Force in a recent biding round.
Saab has been in partnership with Akaer since 2007, when the Brazilian company was brought on board to design work packages for its Gripen NG programme, which flight tests new aircraft systems and aircraft upgrades.
